AICTE Approval Handbook 2013-14 Clarify Admission Process of PGDMThe All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released the “AICTE Approval Handbook (2013-14)” to bring clarity in the admission process to various Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) courses.

Now it has been clarified that students can be admitted to any PGDM courses only after they pass any of the CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, JMET and Common Entrance of AICTE itself CMAT. The diplomas of all those students who are admitted to institutes without one of these tests shall be declared null and void, the AICTE Approval Handbook says.

“It has been noticed that technical institutions offering PGDM, PGDM (Executive) and PGCM (Post Graduate Certificate in Management) have issued advertisements in newspapers for admitting students in various programs through tests other than the common entrance tests allowed by the Supreme Court,” says the public notice released by AICTE.

Having common entrance tests for admission to management institutes was questioned by the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) in Gujarat, which refused to accept any entrance test other that its own. A writ petition was filed by the institute in the SC in October 2012.

The apex court order was finally out on November 6 and it clarified that all other institutes. except IRMA, will have to admit students according to the results of the mentioned entrance tests. Admission to IRMA will be carried out on the basis of their in-house test. The notice also makes it clear that all those institutes which fail to adhere to the order of the SC will face action.
