There are various articles on this site related to the Food Technology under the menu "Careerpaths". However the one that I would recommend you to read is : http://ssc2pg.com/degree-in-food-technology-management/

Hope this will help.

RE: Career options in Food Technology

The term Food Technology has a wide meaning and usually refers to the technique and principles involved in processing and preservation of the food substances. On one hand this has led to the growing demand for packed and processed food and on the other it has made the consumer more quality and nutrition conscious. All these factors pose a very encouraging picture on the future of food processing industry in India. Many companies involved in processed food business are doing more research in preparing new products and developing new techniques to preserve different types of foods for a long period.

Food processing companies need food technology persons to work for them in different sections like production, quality assurance, research and development (R & D) etc.

Food technology courses attract a large number of students because of its novelty as an educational course and also because of the growing demand for food technologists in today's world of packaged and fast foods.

Candidates seeking admission to the undergraduate programs in food technology need to pass the Higher Secondary (10 + 2) examinations with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. For enrolling in a post-graduation course one should be a graduate in Food Technology or Home Science or degree holders in Nutrition/Dietetics and Hotel Management graduates.

Central Food Technology and Research Institute, Mysore is a premier institute for food technology courses. Apart from this, there are several other institutes best known for offering food technology courses in India.
