Delhi School To Lose CBSE Affiliation For Withholding Admit CardBal Mandir Senior Secondary School of New Delhi, has been fined with Rs.75,000 as compensation by Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for withholding the admit cards of several class XII students. Not only the school was fine but also the Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has issued directives to the Delhi Government to withdraw the affiliation of the school.

“Let a copy of this judgement be sent to the director of Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, to initiate proceedings for cancellation of recognition/affiliation of Bal Mandir Senior Secondary School, Vikas Marg here,” stated the order passed by the commission. The commission had passed the order against a complaint filed by father of a student Akash Agarwal.

The school had withheld admit card of 13 students including the petitioner’s son. The Commission deplored the action by the school management and declared it “unexpected and uncalled for”.

Shyam Sunder Aggarwal, the father of Akash Aggarwal complained that the school had not only withheld his son’s admit card but also did not inform them about it. These allegations were rebutted by the school which said that the student was “irregular in school since the beginning”. It claimed the student’s attendance was 68.60% while CBSE bylaws seek a minimum of 75% attendance.
