Expert Advice For Students Appearing In JEE ExaminationThe first ever Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains) in the traditional paper-pencil form is scheduled to be conducted tomorrow, Sunday, 7th April. As such, most district headquarters, which are centre for paper-pencil format of the examination are running out of accommodation due to heavy rush of students, as this traditional form is being mostly favoured by the students. The computerised format of the examination is available only in select cities and it will be conducted on April, 9, 22, 23 and 25. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting JEE Mains nationwide for short listing the candidates to be admitted to centrally funded engineering and technology colleges (NITs) and also next stage of examination, JEE Advanced, to admit students to prestigious IITs. Only top 1.5 lakh candidates from JEE Mains will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced.

While the admissions to the centrally funded technical institutes were done purely on the basis of erstwhile AIEEE, the admissions this year would consider 40% weightage to the Std. XII Boards score after due normalization and 60% to the JEE Mains.

Experts are anticipating that the difficulty level of JEE Mains will be relatively lower but the questions to framed in a tricky way, so the they have advised students to be a bit more vigil and careful while attempting this examination. According to them, the question papers of easy standard than practiced hitherto may give rise to minor but critical mistakes, and they may bowl over even brilliant students.

The JEE Mains exam will be single paper of three hours duration comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
