kendriya Vidyalaya hike Fees by 60%According to a notification circulated by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan (KVS), Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country would be charging about 60% more fees from April 1. However students coming from poor background (BPL Families) and with disabilities will continue to have fees exemption as ever and hence this hike would not affect them in any way. The last fees hike was made in 2009 and there has been no complaints from the parents about the fees hike as most students studying in KVs are government employees who get the entire reimbursement of the fees, it is claimed.

While there has been no change in the tuition fees, the computer fund and Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi (VVN) has been almost doubled, as per the notification. To give the idea of actual hike, the present fees for the class X student would be 800 from now on instead of 490.

It was proposed to hike the fees in December, 2012. It was discussed in the meet of board of governors of KVs on 28th December 2012, after which it was forwarded for final approval to the Minister for HRD, M M Pallam Raju, who is also the KVS Chairman.

The fee collected is used to maintain school campus and to provide student amenities, said KVS officials.
